My
husband, Richard and I have been together since 1980. We built our home
in Groveland in 1986. Our daughter, Megan, is pursuing her college
degree in Early Childhood Education.
I have 26 years prior experience in Banking and Finance and graduated
Magna Cum Laude from the University of Central Florida with a Bachelors
Degree in Supervision and Management with an emphasis in Early Childhood
Education. I also have a Childhood Development Associate (CDA)
Credential and an Advanced Director Credential with a VPK Endorsement.
I designed and built Our House Child Development Center that opened for
business on September 20, 1999, with a licensing capacity of 140
children. After completion of our expansion in 2002, our licensing
capacity was increased to 207 children. We are NAEYC Accredited and an
approved facility to administer the Florida Voluntary Prekindergarten
Program.
I served as Secretary and Vice Chair of the Board of Director for the
Early Learning Coalition of Lake County, the private provider
representative and currently remain very active. I am a member of the
South Lake Chamber of Commerce, the National Association for the
Education of Young Children (NAEYC), Southern Early Childhood
Association (SECA), Early Childhood Association of Florida, Inc. (ECAF),
and Early Childhood Association of Lake County (ECAL). I currently
serve as secretary of the Early Childhood Apprenticeship Committee of
Lake Technical Center.

Courtney
Jenkins
Associate
Director
|
Ms. Courtney has
lived in Florida her entire life. She and her husband, Chris,
have been married since 1995 and have 2 children. She worked in
a preschool as a three-year old teacher for a year before moving
from Lakeland, Florida to Orlando, Florida and then to Clermont,
Florida, where she has made her home since 2000. Shortly
thereafter they became members of the Our House family in the
parent role when their son, Colton, was enrolled. In 2001, they
welcomed their daughter, Caitlin. She has been enrolled at Our
House since she was 6 weeks old.
In the 12 years prior to becoming
an employee at Our House, Ms. Courtney worked in the mortgage
industry. In 2007, she realized it was time for a change. Her
heart was no longer in the mortgage industry and she wanted to
return to where she first began her life work, with children.
So far, she has completed her 45 hours of state training and VPK
Emergent Literacy. She is also First Aid and CPR certified, but
she is not finished yet. She is working toward her Directors
Credential and hopes to have that accomplished by October of
this year. |
